Solidarity Delegation Objectives12-26 July 2010 A delegation integrated by LASNET members, unions, aboriginals and members of social organisations of Australia will travel to Colombia from the 12 to the 26 of July to share, exchange and strengthen unite links and solidarity with trades unions, human rights organisations indigenous, peasants, afro-descendants and Grass roots of the South American country. The delegation will arrived at Bogota, capital of Colombia and after meeting with SINALTRAINAL UNION - one of the mission coordinators, will travel by different regions of the country to develop an agenda that will enable the members to advance in the accomplishment and implementation of the following objectives. 1.- Contribute to the construction of an international solidarity long-term bloc with the Colombian people struggles. 2.- to contribute to the elaboration and development of a common platform of struggles between Australian organisations with homologous Colombians to oppose US Free Trade Agreement, the imperialist war, US Military bases facilities in Latin America and the world, the policy impelled by the global and transnational financial groups owners and to denounce the environmental destruction caused by the action of the capitalists. 3.- To contribute to the visibility of the problems faced by workers and popular sectors due to the policy of transnational companies of the Colombian State and the governments of the first houses of the economic groups that have a presence in the country. 4.-To obtain the necessary information to deal with the discussions that are developed in relation to the TLC Colombia - Australia. The Australian government must not make agreements with governments that violate human rights and enrich the transnational companies and national groups through violence and terror. 5.- To promote and develop in Australia the Campaign “ No to the war of the multinationals!, strengthen the Global campaign against Coca-Cola “ Because I love life, I do not consume Coca-Cola! 6.- To strength trade unions and Australian solidarity organisations unity with the Colombian social movements. LASNET Newsletter Spring 2009-Summer 2010 2009  Dubán Vélez  Pascual Pichún Emergency Meeting Program & Speakers  Protest/Rally for Colombia & Honduras, March 20 Thank you to all the comrades who came to the demonstration in support of the Latin American people, Honduras, Haiti and Chile. More than 50 people attended the demonstration on March 20th in Federation Square, Melbourne to protest the presence of US in Latin America and against the 7 military bases in Colombia and a strategic base in Honduras. Our demonstration was also a protest against the regime of President Uribe because of its innumerable human rights violations through the forced displacements,the criminalisation of social movements, the jailing of peasents and indigenous people and the persecution of the people of Colombia by its anti-terrorist policies. What is more our demonstration was also in support of the workers and union leaders who are suffering daily persecution for defending their rights. We send them fraternal greetings from Australia to the workers of the Coca Cola multinational in Colombia who are fighting for workers rights and their own survival. We were also protesting the criminalisation of international solidarity, because the solidarity that we represent supports marginalised people and the original inhabitants of Latin America. Thanks again to all the organisations and unions who gave their support for Sinaltrainal and the social organisations of Colombia on their behalf we send a big thank you.
